the need
Based on the Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM), more than 7 million people ages 65 and older, in the U.S., had incomes below poverty in 2017. This means that after paying for rent and other expenses, hundreds of thousands of seniors have very little money remaining for basic needs. In addition, poverty is considered a risk factor for cognitive decline among older adults. In fact, the statistics show, older adults at the lower levels of socioeconomic status are more likely to be diagnosed with depression and dementia. This is a problem and the reason why Aging 100 was created.
Our mission is simple - to help seniors reach the age of 100 and beyond. We invite you to join us in helping under-served seniors live a long and healthy life.
We work with community partners to meet the needs of seniors!
the solution
Our goal is to not only help improve the quality of life for seniors but aid them as they navigate the journey of aging. Our mission is achieved by providing home and community-based support, to seniors, in an effort to help reduce social isolation and the risk of depression and cognitive decline in aging adults.
Aging 100 also researches the traditional and socio-cultural practices, beliefs and values of the longest-living Populations in the world.
